Our Day + Night Skincare Routine
We have tried so many different products over the past 6 months and have finally got our routine down. We also realized we never shared our day + night skincare routine with you so today will be all about our favorite products and how we use them.
All of the products listed below have been used over and over and over again and repurchased. We love these products but most importantly we know you will too and we are excited to finally have found our rhythm when it comes to our skincare routine.
Our Skincare Routine:
Face Prep: Depending on whether I am going to the gym or to work will depend on how I start my morning skincare. If I am going to the gym, I love to go makeup-free or as makeup-free as humanly possible. I normally stick to a moisturizer [like Cetaphil or Derma-e] or a tinted moisturizer [like Tarte]. After the gym, in the shower, I love to switch up my cleansers but the last few months I have been favoring Biore’s Baking Soda Cleanser, Dr. Brandt’s Microdermabrasion [or our dupe] or an oil cleanser [like Biossance or Tatcha].
If I go to the gym in the morning or not, I always like to spritz or apply what I call a ‘skin refresher’. It just gives my skin a second to relax before going in with some makeup. I personally love Evian’s Facial Spray, Mario Badescu’s Rosewater Spray, First Aid Beauty’s Facial Radiance Pads or Tatcha’s ‘The Essence‘.
For Body: I use Nivea’s Essentially Enriched lotion almost daily if not every other day. It makes my skin G L O W [I swear]. I also just started using and loving Sol De Janeiro’s Brazilian Bum Bum cream. I also like to apply Biossance’s squalane oil to my dry areas like my elbows, knees, and ankles. I also always carry a hand lotion in my bag. My personal favorites are First Aid Beauty and Parodi.
Makeup Removal: Over the years I went from just using – and swearing by – Neutrogena makeup remover wipes. I still use the Neutrogena wipes but now swear by the Kirkland [aka Costco brand] wipes. You get like 140 wipes for $12-14 bucks. Another product I use nightly is Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser. It is literally the only product that removes every ounce of makeup on the first try and you don’t have to tug and pull on your face to remove the makeup. When I have super heavy makeup on like glitter eyeshadow or lashes, I stick to Neutrogena’s Oil Free Makeup Remover because it easily removes the makeup. A new favorite to the crew is Tarte’s Frxxxtion Stick Exfoliating Cleanser.
Mask It: Once my makeup is removed, I like to apply a mask. I don’t apply them every night. I usually do the masks a couple times a week or I do a coconut oil sleeping mask. When I do use the masks, I love the peel off masks but am also a huge fan of sheet masks and bubble masks. Sephora, GlamGlow, Hey Honey, Miss Spa, and Que bella are all great brands for masks. [PS – if you use our code ‘FitChickHoney10’ you get 10% off when you order from Hey Honey!]
Serums + Night Creams: If I do use a mask and after my face and neck are fully cleaned, I like to apply a serum or night cream. Dr. Brandt products are incredible so I usually stick to their line but I recently purchased GlamGlow’s Volcasmic Moisturizer which I have been casually rotating in. A few other products that I rotate in are Tarte’s Marajuca Oil, Tarte’s Drink of H2O, and just pure coconut oil. Also, in the winter if my skin is dry, I will add some face oils like Josie Maran or Mitchell and Peach.
Extra Favorites: There are a few products that I just HAVE to mention. I don’t use them every single day but I use them enough that if I didn’t include them then you just wouldn’t get the full picture. I personally love Sephora’s foot masks. Since I work out at least 6x a week, my feet can look and feel a bit rough. The masks really help with the roughness. I also love tea tree oil for zits but you need to make sure you don’t apply it directly to your face! Dip a q-tip in water then the tree tree oil and apply it to your zit at night. In the morning it will be almost fully gone if not completely gone. One last product I swear by Thayer’s rose petal witch hazel toner it gets any extra makeup off that my removers might have missed. I like to switch up my Neutrogena oil-free remover with Garnier’s micellar cleansing water as well.
