Review: City Color Cosmetics Shimmer Shadows
I am switching it up this Tuesday and giving you our first official product review!
Let me start off by saying I was sent these product samples courtesy of City Color Cosmetics.
While I do have a relationship with City Color,
all of my reviews are my own honest opinions and this is not a sponsored post.
City Color Cosmetics is a full range beauty company that is committed to offering premier quality cosmetics at affordable prices. They launched in 2013 with the desire to provide both professionals and newbies with the necessary tools to develop their perfect knowledge and experience with cosmetics. You can find their products in an occasional Ipsy bag, at your local Five Below store or online.
I first discovered City Color products in my Ipsy bags. I received one of their Be Matte blushes (in the color Fresh Melon) and to this day it is one of my top five blushes I use regularly. Of course I ordered several more Be Matte Blushes (in Guava, Papaya, Blood Orange and Dragonfruit). To say I was obsessed is an understatement – but – it is okay because the blushes are only $4.99 a piece!
Okay, the review:
Products: Shimmer Shadows
Colors: Breezy, It’s a Girl!, Oh so naughty, and Pharaoh. ‘Breezy’ is a light blue shimmer. ‘It’s a girl’ is a burgundy/red-ish shimmer. ‘Oh so naughty’ is a dark grey shimmer. ‘Pharaoh’ is a gorgeous gold shimmer.
Review: Overall, I really like these shadows. The colors are very pretty and pigmented. They come in 16 different colors but I’m a big fan of golds and burgundy lately so I’m glad they sent me those two colors. The shades are lush and attention-drawing which I LOVE. Occasionally, I like to add a pop of blue or teal on my lower lash line so ‘breezy’ is perfect for that.
Pros: The colors are pigmented, blend well, and the formula is easy to apply. The shadows look slightly different on the eye than they do in the compact – but – I was pleasantly surprised because I liked them better on my eyes. The shadows don’t crease and they are not chalky which is huge for me (because I can’t stand that). The burgundy shadow is my favorite – shocker, I know – since it gives a rich, velvety look and the shadows lasted all day without a need for a touch up. Lastly, they are easy to switch from day to night (which is always great) and did I mention they are affordable at only $6.99 each.
Cons: I did have to add a couple of layers of the shadows (except the grey shadow) and an additional layer after I blended to make sure my eyes still had that pop of color – but – the end result did come out beautiful. I’m also a bit of a perfectionist so for any normal gal the shadows are probably more than enough (I just like my look a little more dramatic). 😉
In a nutshell, I would recommend if you are looking to try a new shimmer shadow.
I hope you all enjoyed this review.
Again, my reviews are my honest opinion and I would like to thank City Color for sending me the samples.
